-Mrs C – Eastbourne

Hello. I was delighted with Tenaya’s cleaning. She was a whirlwind and did a fantastic job and left the rooms looking sparkling. Thank you.

-Mrs G, Seaford

We are very happy. She is exactly who we need!

-Miss D, Eastbourne

The best cleaners we have ever had and we look forward to them coming every other week. The way they make the beds is like in a hotel and I’m always taking pictures of how they leave our children’s room as it looks so perfect I want to recreate it (but I don’t have the skills). They work hard and are very professional. I’m so pleased we set up this arrangement so thanks to you and to them.

-Mrs K, Lewes

Vicky arrived in good time this morning and did a very good clean. A very pleasant person too.

Thank you for your prompt and efficient service in providing us with a new cleaner on the day.

-Miss C, Lewes

Worked with Cleanhomes, could not be more accommodating! Extremely friendly and a general good business to work for!

Stop ruining gym clothes! Here’s how to keep them clean and lasting longer.

Going to the gym is very rewarding experience. Something we may not think about is the proper care of our gym clothes. It is recommended to wash your gym clothes after every use. This is due to our sweat and dead skin cells combining with the natural bacteria on our skin and whilst working out we create the perfect environment for them to replicate. This can lead to various skin infections if not washed out correctly.

We have found a great set of clothing care tips for your gym clothes by livefrey.com which we will be going through here.

Tip 1- Dry them out

After going to the gym dry out your clothes. Leaving them on to absorb more sweat makes the clothes more likely to absorb the sweat in future. This leads to your clothes smelling worst in future.

Tip 2- Turn clothes inside out

When working out at the gym it is the inside of your clothes that comes into contact with the skin and sweat meaning that is the area that will smell the most. By washing the clothes inside out you will wash away more of the dirt and sweat built up on your clothes.

Tip 3 – Pre soak them in vinegar

LiveFrey uses a term called Body Soil which is a combination of oil, dead skin cells and sweat. Pre soaking in vinegar is a great way to counter this as the acid will fight the body soil combination.

Tip 4 – Wash after each use

By washing your gym clothes after every use you remove the risk of staining your clothes and reduce the risk of getting skin infections

Tip 5 – Water Temperatures

Most gym clothes are made from synthetic materials meaning they are best when washed in colder temperatures. By washing them in hot water you can ruin the fabric and cause it to shrink

Tip 6 – Cotton

Unlike the previous tip, cotton items of clothing such as socks towels or t-shirts are best washed in hot temperatures. The heat will kill off bacteria and disinfect the article of clothing.

Tip 7 – Less detergent

When washing your gym clothes do not go crazy with the detergent. Detergent is essential for removing the sweat and Body Soil mentioned earlier. However, excess detergent will stick to the microfibers of your gym clothes and leave dirt from the wash on the gym clothes.

Tip 8 – Add a deodorant to your pre-soak

Adding a small amount of deodorant from big brand names into your pre-soak will remove the horrible smell caused by vinegar.

Tip 9 – Fabric softener

Do not use fabric softener on your gym clothes! The way they work is to coat the fibers of your clothes making them feel silky smooth which on your gym clothes is something you do not want as it will trap sweat and bacteria inside the fibers of your clothes. The second thing they do which is bad for your gym clothes is to reduce the elasticity of the fibers meaning soon your clothes will not fit anymore.

Tip 10 – Air dry your clothes

Your gym clothes will very likely be extremely delicate. This means washing or drying them at high temperatures will shrink or damage them. Similar with washing them at cool temperatures putting them in a dryer is too hot for most gym clothes meaning you should just hang them to dry.

These tips all come from Lifefrey.com and we think they are great to preserve the quality and lie of your gym clothes. Keep checking our blog and social media pages for more great tips and tricks in the future.

Bespoke Service

We are not happy until you are! Your cleaner will usually tailor their services to fit exactly with your requirements, including spring cleaning and ironing.

Peace of Mind

Only 1 in 50 applicants makes it on to our carefully screened database. We interview them twice, visit them in their own homes and take up at least two references. And if they still subsequently don't measure up to your standards, we will send you someone who does.

Personal Cleaner

We don't operate in teams, and therefore you get the same cleaner every week. This is good because you develop a relationship with your cleaner. We have some clients who have had the same cleaner for years and years - and that's what we want for you.

COVID-19 5th January Update

Just to let you know we are open for business as usual and you can continue to have your cleaner clean your house.

The government has made it clear that cleaners are still permitted to work inside peoples' homes as long as Government Guidelines on social distancing and staying safe are followed (see below). In summary:

You can be outside of your home for work purposes where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home, including if your job involves working in other people's homes.

The full text can be found here New National Restrictions from 5 January (in England; there are similar texts available for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Specifically relating to cleaners, the guidance continues: 'This guidance applies to those working in, visiting or delivering to home environments. These include, but are not limited to, people working in the following areas:

  • 'This can include work in other people's homes where necessary - for example, for nannies, cleaners, social care workers providing support to children and families, or tradespeople (this is not an exhaustive list)'

Note this guidance is for people who are fit and well, and is dependent on the following social distancing guidelines being followed:

  • No work should be carried out in a household where people are isolating or where an individual is being shielded.
  • The cleaners can continue work, providing that they are well and have no symptoms. No work should be carried out by a cleaner who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild, or when someone in their own household has symptoms.
  • No work should be carried out in a household where any occupants are clinically extremely vulnerable to coronavirus, or households with a possible or confirmed case of coronavirus.
  • Whilst in the house. a cleaner should maintain a safe distance of at least two metres from any household occupant at all times, and ensure good ventilation in the area where they are working, including opening the window.
  • Upon entering the home, cleaners should wash their hands using soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Cleaners should wash their hands regularly, particularly after blowing their nose, sneezing or coughing, and when leaving the property.

The good news with regard to cleaning is that the cleaners can social distance from their clients very easily, and we would advise that, if you are at home when they are there, that you remain in a separate room to your cleaner.

If you are happy to adhere to the government guidelines - and if your cleaner has not been in touch already - then please just call the office and we will ensure that your cleaning continues.

Best regards

The Cleanhome Team
